Welcome to the 13th World of Women Film Festival!

The Festival opened in Sydney on the 23rd of October and is now followed by the WOW National Tour from December 2004 to April 2005. Tour partners Australia-wide, from Perth to Cairns, will screen one, two or three sessions of the Sydney-based festival. Many thanks to all those who attended the Sydney opening - it was a great success! Photos will be available from this page soon.
This year’s programme is dedicated to discovering new talent. We were especially happy to have Vicki Sugars as a festival guest in Sydney with her first film Moustache, an official selection for the Venice Film Festival and an Australian premiere at WOW.
We also stay faithful to our commitment to offer premieres to our audiences. This year more than half of the programme is made up of Australian premieres.
Above all, for the first time, the festival is proud to host a selection from the Festival International de Films de Femmes de Creteil (www.filmsdefemmes.com). This showcase contains exclusive Australian and Sydney premieres of the latest and best works by European female filmmakers, including the recent short film by outstanding French filmmaker Agnes Varda. None of this would have been possible without the passion and professionalism of some dedicated women who have graciously offered their time and skills to keep this festival existing. To view a list of the WOW Committee members and their roles, click here.
Experience high emotion, discover new horizons and celebrate the talent ”au feminin” during your journey into a world seen through women’s eyes. WOW is a unique review of the latest works by the most talented Australian and European women and a unique opportunity to network and socialise in a vibrant atmosphere.
I hope you enjoy this year’s festival as much as we have all enjoyed organising it.
